GYL does not create or modify judicial records, nor does it publish official judgments. All displayed information reflects existing public records or voluntary submissions.
Indian judicial data is publicly accessible under the doctrine of open justice. High Courts, District Courts, Tribunals, and the Supreme Court publish orders, cause lists, and case details on official portals.
Hence, if case details appear on GYL, they are either:
As per Section 52(1)(q)(iv) of the Copyright Act, publishing or referencing public judicial records is not a copyright infringement.
Generally No. Public judicial records are ordinarily not protected from publication unless disclosure is restricted by applicable law or by a competent court.
The Puttaswamy decision recognizes privacy as a fundamental right but maintains that judicial records remain public unless restricted by law or court orders. GYL follows this same legal framework.
On submission of a valid judicial directive, GYL will immediately restrict relevant data.
If user-submitted data is incorrect or unauthorized, GYL will remove it after verification.
GYL has no authority to delete, alter, or suppress public judicial records maintained by governmental authorities.
GYL reproduces or references public judicial information as received from official sources. While reasonable efforts are made to maintain accuracy, GYL does not warrant that information published by third-party governmental authorities is complete, current, or error-free.
GYL uses DigiLocker solely to verify the genuineness of the user accessing the platform. GYL does not store any document in or sourced from DigiLocker.
GYL has obtained government authorisation to use DigiLocker for the limited purpose of confirming the identity and genuineness of a user at the time of access. This is a one-time verification step and does not involve the ongoing collection, retention, or storage of documents.
DigiLocker is used only to authenticate and verify the genuineness of the user. No document is stored by GYL in or through DigiLocker. GYL does not create a repository of DigiLocker documents and does not retain such documents in user case files.
For verification purposes, GYL may fetch your PAN or any other government-issued identity document. Such information is fetched only with your explicit consent and is used strictly to confirm your identity, in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
No information is fetched from DigiLocker unless you approve the request using secure API authentication. GYL maintains logs and timestamps recording which user requested what and when, for security, audit, and compliance purposes. All such access is encrypted and limited to the verification purpose described above.
